There’s something magical about a classic nail polish color. It can take a humdrum neutral outfit to something sophisticated. That’s how I feel about Color Street New York Minute: this shimmering deep berry solid color pairs perfectly with any thing in a capsule wardrobe. It is bold yet understated all at the same time.
Color Street New York Minute Overview
New York Minute almost seems to glow when you look at it – the deep berry shimmer catches the sunlight and just has depth to it. Unlike traditional liquid nail polish with shimmer, New York Minute won’t have brushstrokes – a HUGE benefit if you (like me) tried to eliminate brush strokes.
So at first I couldn’t keep London Calling and New York Minute straight, and I would mix the two up all the time. In case you’re wondering now, New York Minute is much more berry, and London Calling is far more of a maroon. You can click HERE to see swatches and read a review of London Calling – it’s pretty magnificent too!
Color Street New York Minute Swatches
I am loving the glow of Color Street New York Minute. It gets in the sun and just has this deep glow to it….see what I mean?
I feel like you’ll get tired of me saying this, but I loved all of the solids that I swatched on the same day….I really didn’t want to take this one off! Some colors aren’t my jam (and that is OK!) It’s pretty magical, and it’s the kind of color that I would wear all day every day. It’s striking in it’s own right, without being overkill. You can wear it to an office and look completely professional, or you could pair it with the quirkiest outfit ever and both would be equally perfect.
Here’s a closer shot of the colors in the sunlight.
Here’s a pic of it with a matte top coat. You can get the matte top coat that I used HERE. We know that I am not a huge fan of matte, but I loved the depth that it gave to this particular color. I’d actually choose to wear matte with New York Minute, and I almost feel weird saying that…most of the time I think that matte nail polish just looks dry.
With a coat of matte, New York Minute looks like it has incredible depth – see what I mean?
Color Street New York Minute Review
If you’ve ever had trouble putting on Color Street solids, let me give you some pro tips here.
- You don’t NEED special tools to apply solids, but a rubber tipped cuticle pusher will make it exponentially easier. You can buy a multi-pack HERE from Amazon.
- Gentle pulling and stretching to fit the strips to your nail is also key! Emphasis on the gentle – think of it like when you put plastic wrap on a bowl. You pull the plastic wrap to help it get the perfect seal.
- Like I always say, don’t be afraid to start over. Remember that each package is meant for one-time use, and you have plenty of strips.
