Hi. I’m Holly, and I have six failed blogs in my past. I’ve had blogger, WordPress, and Livejournal (anyone remember that?) and even Squarespace (oh yeah, I should probably cancel that….). I know what it’s like to have the best of intentions and then, like the charcoals on a grill, watch that excitement go from raging fire to gray ash. Then, I joined Blogging Boot Camp.
I’ve always known, as a direct sales person, that I need a blog. A blog is a place to share your story, all about YOU. Direct sales is such a unique job in that ultimately, you sell your personality to your ideal client. People aren’t going to go naked if they don’t buy LuLaRoe from me. They’ll go buy clothes from someone else. However, I’m looking to connect people with the deeper purpose; my WHY for direct sales. I want people to buy from me because I personally give a portion of that money to a safe house to pay the rent, provide training skills, pay for food and clothing for at-risk women living in Southeast Asia.
That’s why I did blogging boot camp, and let me tell you three reasons why YOU should consider it too.
Blogging Boot Camp is Going to Help You Brand You
And, I should add, if you’re already branded, you solidify that branding! Branding, if you’re not familiar with the concept, is YOU. It’s your design, the colors, and the fonts that you use. It’s the combination of all the visual touches and elements that makes up your vibe. You may be creating your own graphics for direct sales, you may not be (and if not, it’s easy! Brenda’s course taught me how!).
Yes, I MADE all of the graphics – well – MOST of the graphics on this blog. The Premium level of Blogging Boot Camp includes a design session with Brenda herself and Michelle (or whoever the wonderful person is who designs during the round you are a part of). Brenda pulled the random mish-mash of thoughts that I had and pulled them together into a unified look and feel. Michelle pulled thoughts out of my head and made me a logo, and VOILA. This is the result.
It’s Not Only Done by People Who Have it All Figured Out
So, I feel like I should warn you – I don’t have it all figured out. I haven’t cruise-qualified yet (I’ve been close). I make mistakes, and I get messy. However, I have my eye on the prize.
I chose to do a blog because, as Brenda says, it’s the top of the funnel. It’s one of the amazing ways that I can help pull people towards me. The cliched saying is that “your vibe attracts your tribe,” but your tribe can’t find you if you don’t put your vibe out there! I strongly want to get out there and be found by people, and this was the strongest way that I could think of to help build my business.
I think of it like a house – today, I am building the foundation. My blog is the “driveway” of my social strategies – it’s where I want people to pull in. My Facebook group is the house, where the party is HAPPENING – Instagram, and Pinterest are some of the landscaping that pulls people in.
I now have a platform to share my story and pull you in – and friend, it’s a good story. You want to be part of it.
You Won’t Do Blogging Boot Camp Alone
Friend, once upon a time, I ran a marathon. I ran the Penang Marathon, that is held on a LONG bridge. Most of the marathon actually takes place on the bridge – which makes it REALLY hard to get out there, if you’re a cheerleading friend. I ran almost seven hours that day (don’t hate, I’m a slow runner, and even the person who finishes last gets a finishers medal). Most of that run was in silence – me listening to my heavy breathing, the sound of my feet on pavements, and me thinking that it was rather weird that I couldn’t feel my lower body anymore.
We hit the land at the last five kilometers, and suddenly there were PEOPLE. There were crowds cheering; screaming, and yelling. There were bright streamers, and high-fives everywhere.
Suddenly, this surge of I CAN DO IT hit my brain, and friend, I cried that entire last five kilometer, but let me tell you, those cheers brought me LIFE. In Blogging Boot Camp, I was surrounded by 140 folks who were also working on a labor of love – 30 premium clients, 90 or so regular clients, a few auditors (who had done BBC before but not gone live), and a crowd of cheerleaders – former boot campers and Brenda and her Sassy team.
There were so many people in the group to cheer you on through the questions and the crazy of blogging. They want you to succeed – you are not competition, you are a friend, and they want to cheer you through. This weekend (as I am posting this) is the final weekend of BBC5, and we are ALL cheering on those who are sprinting through the final days.
I’m Sold, How Do I Sign Up for Blogging Boot Camp?
Watch for Brenda to announce Blogging Boot Camp 6 on August 28th. Details are coming out in the next few weeks. You’re going to want to jump on it fast because slots sold out the first day for BBC5. You don’t have time to hem and haw over it.
Here’s the answer to the most common questions:
How much does it cost? The costs have not come out yet for BBC6, so I can only speak for the past – the value that Brenda and her team gave is FAR MORE than the cost I paid – I have worked in the media world before, and the value far exceeded the cost. It’s an investment in your story, and your business, and SO worth it.
How much time does it take? The course is a series of videos, with weekly calls. I watched videos on my own time, and it really didn’t take a ton of time. Brenda goes through the basics and teaches you how to do so many things that are not rocket science, but not intuitive. You can totally work this into your schedule if you want.
How do I know if Blogging is right for me? Honestly, you probably know deep down inside if it’s right for you. If you need to be persuaded, you might not be ready for it – and that is OK! However, if you want to build that driveway to invite people into your house, and you want it to be big and welcoming, a blog just may be the perfect thing.
I have small children, can I do this? They sleep eventually. Do like all the other moms do, and throw some cheerios and macaroni and cheese at them, and they’ll be ok. I AM JUST KIDDING – you mom the way you mom, ok? I know that quite a few moms have done Blogging Boot Camp – and remember, you’ll have an automatic support group that wants to see you succeed. You can do this.
I’m not a rock start at my biz. I’m not either, yet. Do it anyway. Do it scared (with me).
I’m not a good writer. Tell that voice to shut up (use colorful language if you need to), and share your story. It’s your story, and if you’re silent, you rob others of the chance to hear it. Go write.
When can I sign up? Information for BBC6 will be distributed on August 28th. Sign up fast; BBC5 sold out the first day of sign ups.
I chose to use this blog to tell my story – go learn a little bit more about it here.
And friend, if you want to go blog, then BLOG. I’ll be over here cheering for you.
